Quetta Gladiators
Quetta have lost back to back games and only have two points to their name, which they had added to their win against Karachi.
Their latest defeats have been against highflying Multan and Islamabad. The loss to Multan was a slim one but they suffered an absolute hammering at the hands of the capital city side.
In a nutshell, Quetta are poor – just not as poor as Karachi but poor enough. And they are about to get poorer as their veteran allrounder Shahid Afridi has reportedly asked the management to rest him after conceding a PSL-record 67 runs in his four overs in the defeat to Islamabad.
At this point of his career, however, it could also be a blessing in disguise for Quetta as dropping Boom Boom could have been a problem for their troubled captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.
One good news for Quetta is that their English batter Jason Roy has linked up with them after missing the start of the season due to international commitments.
Lahore Qalandars
After opening the tournament with a defeat to main contenders Multan Sultans, Lahore Qalandars defeat the other contenders Islamabad United in their last game.
The win over Islamabad was a slim one and Lahore were actually incredibly lucky to win it. Defending 174, Lahore were second best at one point, with Islamabad needing 38 off 28 and the pairing of Shadab Khan and Colin Munro at the crease.
From that point, the capital city side somehow managed to lose, thanks to some great death bowling by Lahore.
Lahore’s bowling is such quality and has so much variety that they will never be out of a game no matter what the situation.
