Teams Status
Peshawar Zalmi
Peshawar Zalmi are the form team of the tournament ahead of playoffs, thanks to their four consecutive wins.
Since losing to Multan Sultans twice in back-to-back games played in different cities at the start of this month, Peshawar have bounced back in style.
On Monday, in their last game of the round robin stage, their batters put together an average performance but their bowlers made up for it, restricting Lahore to 158 – exactly their own score. Wahab Riaz then was superb in the Super Over, limiting Lahore to just 5 runs – a total Shoaib Malik surpassed in just two balls.
Word is that Zalmi’s Usman Qadir and Ben Cutting have tested positive ahead of this fixture. If true, it could be a huge blow for Zalmi but will probably make the game more even considering Islamabad’s own depletion in numbers.
Islamabad United
Islamabad’s injury troubles are known to everyone. Several of their top overseas batters have left them while some of their local stars are out injured.
Zeeshan Zameer is certain to miss out on this game, while there are still question marks on Colin Munro, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf’s fitness. One massive boost for Islamabad, however, is that their talismanic captain Shadab Khan is fit and ready to lead his team.
Shadab last played in the Valentine’s Day affair against Karachi and in his absence his side has lost all three matches.
