Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings have had a nightmare start to the season so far. They’ve played two matches and lost two but more importantly the manner of their defeats have been alarming.
Scores of 124 and 113 in their two outings is embarrassing for a side that boasts a superstar such as Babar Azam opening for them.
In their latest defeat, to Quetta, Babar scored 32 but those around him just fell like a house of cards. None of the batsmen batting from number three to seven contributed in double figures.
If it wasn’t for Aamer Yamin’s 20 and Imad Wasim’s 26 late in the order, Karachi would have folded for a lot less than the 113 they managed.
Lahore Qalandars
Lahore batters played brilliantly in their opening match of the tournament but unfortunately for them their Multan Sultans counterparts were even better.
The defending champions chased down the mammoth 207-run target set by Lahore with five wickets and two balls to spare.
Lahore, though, will not be deterred as their batsmen had done their part and it’s just that their star-studded bowling attack had an off night. There can’t be too many of those when you have names such as Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf bowling for you.
The Qalandars will be excited about Fakhar Zaman’s 76 off 35. The hard-hitting leftie usually takes his time to get going but already has a big knock at the start of this tournament.
