India vs West Indies 2nd T20I Betting Tips 18/02/2022

The 2nd T20I between West Indies and India will be played on Feb 18 (Friday) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The match is to begin at 7 pm IST.

Teams Status

India

Unsurprisingly, India are 1-0 up in the series without truly hitting the top gear. The credit for their victory in the series opener went to debutant Ravi Bishnoi, who calmed his jitters to finish with figures of 2 for 17 as his contribution helped restrict Windies to 157 – a target to which India got with a bit of an effort.

The wicket column of Bishnai’s first-ever T20I statline may not be too big but his googly-heavy four overs proved a nightmare for Windies batters.

The run chase had a brilliant start, thanks to Indian openers’ 64-run stand following which came a bit of a wobble masterminded by Roston Chase but in the end, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer got their team home.

The Men in Blue now stand on the cusp of another series win over the Windies but one has to say that they have yet to perform to the best of their ability.

West Indies

West Indies’ performance of the first T20I was very uncharacteristic of them. Usually, the men from the Caribbean go all out and do not hold back.

In the series opener, it seemed that they were a bit reluctant to play their natural game. This was evident in them finishing their innings with three wickets left, which would not have happened, had they taken their chances completely.

The middle order, as it has happened often on this tour, failed to do much, with one-down batter Nicholas Pooran (61) and opener Kyle Mayers (31) being the exceptions. Kieron Pollard got 24 off 19 but he did not look comfortable and one would say that he also came in to bat a bit too late. For the captain to bat at number seven when the others are finding it hard to score was a defensive move.

Tipster’s Angle

Tip: Total sixes over 14.5 @ 1.79

As explained above, the Windies were a bit tentative in the first T20I, with the sole exception being Nicholas Pooran. The Indian batters have also not been required to play in full flow the entire tour. Even then the first match produced 12 sixes. With both the teams having played a game already at Eden Garden’s, they will now be more comfortable and should bag a bigger haul of maximums. The odds have been sourced from Sportsbet.

Tip: Ishan Kishan total runs over 20.5 @ 1.87

Ishan Kishan got only 35 runs in the first T20I but he played the most balls (42) of all the Indian batters. In theory, he should be the one with the most know how of the conditions and so should now have any problem covering the spread of a mere 20.5 runs. The odds have been sourced from Parimatch.

Conclusion

As explained above, India have won most of their matches in this series and the previous one without even playing their A-game. The gulf in class of both the sides is massive. This is why we expect another Indian victory in this game as well.
