Teams Status
Bangladesh
After winning their first ever Test match in New Zealand last month, Bangladesh now return to the comfort of home soil in a shorter format and against easier opponents.
The Tigers have not played ODI cricket since July last year when they whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0 away from home.
Mohammad Naim, Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, Nurul Hasan, Taijul Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin and Rubel Hossain – all of whom were part of the ODI unit that beat Zimbabwe have been dropped.
Instead, the selectors have named four uncapped players in the squad. Ebadot Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Yasir Ali and Mahmudul Hasan Joy form that quartet.
Afghanistan
Afghanistan have undergone a number of changes over the past few months. Firstly, they are now being trained by interim coach Stuart Law after Lance Klusenar left the role.
Secondly, they have left out Sharafuddin Ashraf and Usman Ghani – both of whom were a part of the Afghanistan side that swept Netherlands 3-0 last month.
Qais Ahmad and Mohammad Saleem have also failed to make the cut although they at least are on the reserves list. Meanwhile, Ibrahim Zadran has been drafted in.
