Teams Status
Perth Scorchers
Perth Scorchers are the only unbeaten side left in the competition, having won all three of their matches so far.
Last year’s finalists began their campaign with a slim win over Brisbane Heat, then brushed aside Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes – the latter of whom they face again here.
Through their three wins, Andrew Tye has been their best bowler, picking a couple of wickets in each game. Batting-wise, their last two wins, over Adelaide and Hobart, have been individual acts. Colin Munro scored 114 against Adelaide before Mitchell Marsh smashed a 100 against Hobart – both the knocks were unbeaten.
It’s clear to see that this side has multiple match-winners and is clearly the team to beat in the competition right now.
Hobart Hurricanes
Hobart have a win sandwiched between two losses in their three games so far this year. In the defeats to Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers, their batting was at fault, mustering up just 130 and 129 runs respectively in unsuccessful run chases.
In the win over the Sixers in the reverse fixture, their batting had clicked beautifully, with all of their top three making significant contributions. Opener Matthew Wade, in particular, was in scintillating form as he smashed a 46-ball 93 to power his side to 213-2, which even the Sixers found it impossible to track down.
Wade’s opening partner D’Arcy Short has also been in good nick, having found runs in all his outings so far.
