Teams Status

Despite losing the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders put up an above average score on the board as they scored 187 runs in their 20 overs. Nitish Rana was an exceptional knick as he scored 80 runs off just 56 balls. He along with Rahul Tripathi stitched a 93 run stand for the second wicket off just 50 balls. Rahul scored a quickfire 53 from just 29 balls. The Mumbai Indians started off poorly with a two-wicket loss to the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli won the toss and put Mumbai to bat first, where they only managed to score 159 runs. Despite taking the match into the last over, Mumbai lost the match by two wickets. Chris Lynn and Suryakumar Yadav were in some good knick with the bat. Apart from these two, no other players chipped in. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up two wickets for just 26 runs. Even the debutant Marco Jansen had a great outing as he also picked up two wickets. They will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways. First, they beat Delhi Capitals in the 1st Qualifier and then again went on to beat the Capitals in the final. Ishan Kishan was exceptional last season and was the team’s leading run-scorer last season with 516 runs from just 14 matches. Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult led the wicket-taking list for MI with 27 and 25 wickets respectively.

Surya scored an impressive 31 runs in the season opener against the Royal Challengers from Bangalore.
