West Indies vs England 3rd Test Betting Tips: Will Root’s Men Be Third Time Lucky?

Zohaib Ahmed, Senior Author

After two insanely interesting draws, the series between West Indies and England now moves towards its final Test, which will be played at National Cricket Stadium in St George’s, Grenada. The match is to begin from March 24 (Thursday) at 7:30pm IST.

Teams Status

West Indies

The first two Tests followed the same pattern, with England batting first and both teams posting big totals before late collapses setting the game up for an exciting finish.

The hosts held firm on both the occasions and escaped what could easily have been defeats. Where they had to thank Nkrumah Bonner and Jason Holder’s fortitude for the 1st Test, their saviours in the second Test were captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Joshua Da Silva.

The skipper, in particular, was superb in both the innings of the second Test, first scoring a patient 160 before repeating the trick in an unbeaten 56-run knock where he went on full survival mode to save the Test.

West Indies have named an unchanged squad for the series decider.

England

England will be frustrated at seeing two winnable opportunities pass them by. Perhaps, they’ve missed the services of Mark Wood, whose pace could have come in handy in face of stubborn West Indies batting late on the last day.

The wickets so far in this series have been extremely flat, and so there have been some suggestions that captain Joe Root should replace pacer Chris Woakes with leg-spinner Matt Parkinson.

It could be a decent solution as with Ben Stokes available to bowl, Root can let go of one pacer and bring in a helping hand for Jack Leach.

After coming so close to their maiden win of the series twice, England are deservedly the favourites for the final Test. Parimatch and Sportsbet have England priced at 2.14, West Indies at 4.90 and Draw at 2.50. Paripesa, with even better odds, has England available for 2.228, West Indies for 5.05 and Draw for 2.52.

Tipster’s Angle

Tip: England to win @ 2.228

England have been knocking at the door but their attempts to win have been thwarted by some late fight back. The Windies have been lucky and resilient – two things that do not happen often. Even twice in a row is incredibly lucky. We think the hot would finally run out of luck in the final Test, paving way for an England win. The odds have been sourced from Paripesa.

Tip: Kraigg Brathwaite total runs in 1st innings – Over 30.5 @ 1.87

The best batsman in this series has not been an Englishman but a Caribbean local: Kraigg Brathwaite. The Windies skipper is the leading run scorer in the series and has played a few superbly resilient and patient knocks. He has proven that he is this unit’s captain for a reason. He bats with such meticulous planning and patience that it seems difficult to see how the English bowlers would get him out twice over five days. We have trust in him to deliver more. The odds have been sourced from Parimatch.

Conclusion

West Indies have shown incredible character to keep the series even yet. It’s time now that England make their superior talent count.
