Lucknow Super Giants
With Gujarat Titans not scheduled to play their next match until Saturday, this is Lucknow’s chance to climb the league summit and stay there for the next few days if they beat Bangalore in this game, although the top spot is open for Bangalore as well, since they also have eight points.
The good news for Lucknow is that their top two of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock are performing well. The skipper has a ton and a half century to his name while the African import has two fifties.
The bad news is that their one-down spot is giving them headaches. They’ve tried Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey and K Gowtham and neither has managed to hold the spot for long.
Jason Holder seems to enjoy playing against Bangalore and has nine wickets in just five outings against them. Bangalore will be advised to play his overs with caution.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
While Lucknow’s top two are clicking beautifully, Bangalore’s top order has yet to get going by their own admission.
Dinesh Karthik’s heroics at number seven have saved them multiple times and hidden the failures of their specialist batters but it cannot go on for long.
While Karthik has been brilliant, much of his body of work has been carved against pacers. Against spin, however, he can still look a bit vulnerable at times. Thus, his battle with Lucknow’s Ravi Bishnoi will make for an excellent watch.
