South Africa vs Pakistan Betting Tips 16/04/2021

Teams Status

Pakistan: The manner in which the third T20I ended has instilled a feeling bliss in the Pakistan camp. Babar’s historic ton coupled with the easy run chase of a mammoth 204-run target overshadowed the fact that Pakistan bowlers were completely ordinary yet again, treating the Africans to a run-fest. In a World Cup year, it should be a cause of concern for their management.

Good thing for Pakistan was that Fakhar Zaman was back in the playing eleven after missing the second T20I defeat due to a leg allergy.

One surprise that Babar pulled was resting legspinner Usman Qadir in the last game. Qadir had done reasonably well in the T20I before the last one and dropping him had baffled quite a few people.

South Africa: Despite the one-sided nature of the 3rd T20I defeat, South Africa had plenty of positives to draw. First, their batting clicked and dominated Pakistani bowlers from start to finish. They can also find solace in the fact that it wasn’t as if their bowlers bowled badly. It was just a matter of Babar having one of those days where every little thing went in his favor.

Babar was in a zone and when a player of his class and caliber is on song, there is little anyone can do to stop it. Best is to watch and admire and prepare for the next game.

The 4th T20I offers South Africa one last chance to save a tour and the narrative that comes with it. Lose the match and you lose the series 3-1, which when coupled with the 2-1 ODI series loss, makes it a terrible home assignment. That’s narrative number one. However, if they win the final T20I, the scripts will be flipped. It will be South Africa then who would finish the series with their heads held high as they’d have lost just one more game than Pakistan over the course of the entire tour.

What do the Sportsbook Say

Brand Home team name Away team name
Bet365 2.37 1.57

As has been the case for each match of the series so far, Pakistan are again the favorites to win the 4th T20I. 22Bet has Pakistan priced at 1.58 and South Africa at 2.384; LeoVegas has Pakistan at 1.60 and South Africa at 2.33; while Bet365 has Pakistan at 1.57 and South Africa at 2.37.

Tipster’s Angle

Tip: Pakistan to win 4th T20I @ 1.58

They have had their ups and downs and the chance of an inexplicable meltdown can never be discounted but as we have said all along, this is a near full-strength Pakistan side up against a group chockfull of newcomers.

It’s a complete mismatch, and the fact that Pakistan are not in a position to whitewash South Africa is a bit of an underachievement already. The play here, of course, is to back Pakistan to win the final match and clinch the series.

Tip: Highest individual score over 66.5 @ 1.668

It is clear to see that wickets did not have much for the bowlers on the entirety of this tour – not just series. Both sides’ ball hurlers have struggled immensely. Making matters worse are the small boundaries at the Super Sports Park where a simple flick can earn you a maximum.

The last match saw not one but two batsmen breach the 66.5-run barrier and a third one from South Africa fell just a couple runs short.

At decent odds of 1.668, this play is worth a look.

Conclusion

It is difficult to bet against a side that chased down a 204-run target with nine wickets and two overs to spare. Most of the Pakistani batters were not even needed to get the job done. Such a dominant batting performance could further dent the confidence of new Proteas pacers, which, in theory, should translate into another Pakistan win.
