Sri Lanka played two test series against England and South Africa, which they lost 2-0 in both series. Even Sri Lanka lost both the T20I and the ODI series against West Indies. In the first test, Sri Lanka started off poorly as they were bowled out for just 169 runs. Lahiru Thirimanne was the leading scorer in the first innings as he scored 70 runs. They were pretty ordinary with the ball as they conceded a lead of 102 runs. The veteran Suranga Lakmal was able to pick a five-fer. Even Vishwa Fernando and Dushmantha Chameera chipped in with two wickets each. Thirimanne backed it up with another 76 runs in the 2nd innings. But the star was Pathum Nissanka, who scored a magnificent century. Sri Lanka got to a respectable total of 476 courtesy of a couple of 90’s from Niroshan Dickwella and Oshada Fernando. But the bowlers couldn’t pick ten wickets in 100 overs to win the match. Despite the fact that they had a decent outing, they are unlikely to make any changes to the side.

Kyle Mayers had a brilliant start for his test match career as he had a magnificent series against Bangladesh. In a short career span of three matches, he has scored 358 runs at an average of 71.60 including a match-winning highest score of 210* against Bangladesh in the second innings of the second test match. In the six innings that he has played so far, he has crossed the 26 run mark in four innings. In the current series against Sri Lanka, he has scored 97 runs at an average of 48.50. He crossed the 26 run mark in both the innings of the first test match. He has been in excellent touch since he started his test career and could be a good prospect for the future. So, it is very likely that Kyle Mayers will score over 26.5 runs in the first innings at 1.83 odds available at the Betway sportsbook.

Conclusion

Both the teams have something to play for here as West Indies will be looking to seal the tour with a 3-0 whitewash. While Sri Lanka will be looking to win at least one series after losing the T20I and the ODI series. By the looks of it, the second test is also likely to end in a draw.
