Teams Status
Nottinghamshire
Nottinghamshire are the most in-form side of the 2021 Vitality Blast currently and have notched four straight wins on the trot, of which the last three have been thumping victories.
In their last game, they thrashed Yorkshire by 10 wickets and before that they brushed aside Birmingham by a 114 runs, which shows what kind of juggernaut they have become.
They’ve lost just one of their 12 matches so far this season and have 19 points to their name – more than any other side in the competition.
The two of their brightest stars have been Alex Hales – third on the scoring chart with 423 runs to his name at an average of 51.62 – and Jacob Ball, who is also third on the wickets chart with 18 scalps to his name.
Leicestershire
Leicestershire are the polar opposites of their opponents as they sit right at the foot of the points table, having lost eight of their 12 matches so far this campaign.
They won their last game of the tournament by beating Durham by eight wickets but prior to that they had been defeated by none other than upcoming opponents, Nottinghamshire.
It was their third straight defeat. Thus, last matchday’s win over Durham came just at the perfect time and arrested an alarming slide for the Foxes.
Leicester’s main problem through most of their recent defeats has been their batting, which blows hot and cold. Earlier in the tournament, they had cracked 200 but during the three-match defeat sequence, they scored as low as 138.
It’s not as if Leicester do not have their individual performers – Naveen-ul-Haq leads the wickets chart and Joshua Inglis is sixth on the scoring list – but the team struggles to come together collectively, which explains their position on the points table.
