Teams Status
Sunrisers Hyderabad
After five years of benefitting from world class spin, Sunrisers Hyderabad will finally be without Rashid Khan, who now plies his trade for Gujarat Titans.
Another change in philosophy sees Hyderabad ditching their liking for big name overseas batters opening for them. The strategy had not always worked for them anyways.
This year, they are likely to send Rahul Tripathi and Abhishek Sharma as their openers. The overseas options are saved for later, with Kane Williamson, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran all options in middle order. West Indies allrounder Romario Shepherd is also on their books and is expected to provide late innings fireworks.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals may have underperformed for a number of years but they did well in the mega auction. Apart from being slightly short of death bowling options, Rajasthan have constructed a pretty impressive roster.
Trent Boult, R Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal will be their main bowling weapons, while one of James Neesham and Nathan Coulter-Nile will be the primary options in the death overs. More and better options for this specific job certainly remain a weakness in an otherwise decent bunch.
They have batters aplenty with names such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, Rassie van der Dussen and Shimron Hetmyer among others.
