Teams Status
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will enter the contest on Saturday as slight favourites, largely because of where they stand on the table as after playing seven matches, they are one of the three teams to have secured 10 points in the competition.
The management would be optimistic that the players will continue producing similar kinds of performances in the matches to come.
In the previous outing, RCB defeated newcomers Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs on April 19.
RCB’s success in this year’s competition is based on their batting firepower where six players have scored more than 100 and out of those, two have posted more than 200 runs.
Captain Faf du Plessis is leading the runs chart with 250 runs at an average of 35.71 along with the strike-rate of 132.27.
Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been a real sensation as he has been dismissed just once and scored 210 runs at a remarkable strike-rate of 205.88.
Young Shehbaz Ahmed has also been amongst the runs after having scored 171 runs at an average of 42.75 with the strike-rate of 147.41.
Surprisingly, the weak link in the batting department in this year’s IPL for RCB has been former captain and star batter Virat Kohli who has only managed to score 119 runs at an average of 19.83 and with the strike-rate of less than 125. The management would be hoping to see their star batter returning to form in the matches to come.
In terms of the bowling department, star leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva has been the leading wicket-taker for the franchise with 11 scalps to his name.
Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Sunrisers Hyderabad will enter the contest against RCB as slight underdogs but with high confidence as they are on a roll after winning four consecutive matches.
In their previous outing, the side managed to defeat Punjab Kings by seven wickets on April 17.
Sunrisers have a set pattern where they will win the toss and elect to bowl first, which shows that the management has more trust in the batting department compared to the bowling outfit.
Right-hander Rahul Tripathi is the leading run-scorer for the franchise in the competition with 205 runs at an average of 51.25 along with the strike-rate of 173.72.
South Africa’s Aiden Markram has been a real sensation as he has only been dismissed once and has scored 190 runs with a strike-rate of 150.79, which included two fifties.
In the bowling department, left-arm pacer Thangarasu Natarajan is leading the charts with 12 wickets.
