Teams Status
Punjab Kings:
Punjab Kings will enter the contest against Rajasthan Royals as slight favourites, despite having two points less than their Saturday opponent.
The primary reason is their impressive win against leaders Gujrat Titans in the previous outing by eight wickets which lift the side to 10 points after 10 matches with five defeats and as many victories.
The management would be hoping to see the players continue the momentum in the matches to come to stay in the race for a place in the playoffs.
The Kings have been prominently a strong bowling team in the IPL 2022 where pacer Kagiso Rabada is leading the wickets chart with 17 scalps to his name at an outstanding average of 16.05.
He is well-supported by leg-spinner Rahul Chahar who has 12 wickets at a decent average of 22.08 along with a more than respectable economy-rate of just 7.57.
In terms of the batting department, the side has been heavily relying on their top-order, especially on the likes of veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan and England’s Liam Livingstone.
The left-hander is leading the runs chart with 369 runs at an impressive average of 46.12 with the help of 124.66, which included three half-centuries. On the other hand, Livingstone has scored 293 runs at an average of 32.55 and with an astonishing strike-rate of 186.62.
Rajasthan Royals:
Rajasthan Royals will be coming in the match against the Punjab Kings as a slight underdog, despite having 12 points after 10 matches.
The reason is their recent form where they suffered back-to-back defeats against Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Therefore, the management will be hoping to see the players producing a much better display in the match on Saturday.
Royals’ batting department is heavily relying on England’s Jos Buttler who is comfortably the leading run-getter in the tournament with 588 runs at an average of 65.33 along with a strike-rate of 150.76, which included three centuries and as many fifties.
In terms of the bowling department, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is leading the wickets chart with 19 scalps to his name at an outstanding average of 15.31 along with an impressive economy-rate of 7.27.
