Peshawar Zalmi
Peshawar have a win and a loss after two games of their ongoing PSL campaign. They defeated Quetta Gladiators in a big run chase in their opener before falling to Islamabad United in the follow-up game.
That defeat was due to their top order’s collapse and despite Sherfane Rutherford’s unbeaten 70 that helped them recover from 35 for 4 to finish 168 for 6.
The Guyanese have a reputation for being a hard hitter but in this knock, he showcased that he can also guide and resurrect an innings.
In the end, his efforts went in vain as Isloo batters got to the target with ease inside 16 overs as Sohail Khan and Usman Qadir were ragdolled, with both leaking an eye-watering 86 runs in their combined eight overs.
A closer look at Zalmi’s top order reveals that they are light on experience and could see more volatility, with some nights seeing plenty of runs and others having collapses and meltdowns.
Lahore Qalandars
After losing to Multan Sultans in their opening game, Lahore Qalandars bounced back in style on Sunday, beating Karachi Kings by six wickets.
Their opener Fakhar Zaman has been in red-hot form, with him following up the 76 against Karachi with a 106 against Karachi.
Zaman usually takes his time getting going but this time his bat has been oozing runs from the get-go. It seems that he will be terrorising several more bowling attacks this season.
