Royal Challengers Bangalore
After a sluggish start to their UAE leg that saw them lose two straight, Royal Challengers Bangalore have brought their campaign back on track, with consecutive victories.
They now have 14 points to their name after 11 matches and are all but guaranteed a place in the playoffs. Another good news for them is that they seem to have figures out their best combinations ahead of the playoffs.
Srikar Bharat’s introduction at one-down has added more spine to RCB batting, and Shahbaz Ahmed’s return has also helped their cause.
Punjab Kings have lost Chris Gayle for the rest of the tournament but it may also prove to be a blessing in disguise as his departure allows them the chance to promote Shahrukh Khan and Fabian Allen up the order, where the pair feels more comfortable.
That said, Allen’s participation in this fixture is not guaranteed as he picked up a knock in the last game but has not officially been ruled out yet.
On the form front, the Kings have been blowing hot and cold. Of their four outings in the UAE leg, they have lost two and won two, alternating between the two kinds of results. Going by that trend, it is now their turn to lose, having won their last game, which was against Kolkata Knight Riders.
