Teams Status
Pakistan
The first match was going as most matches in Bangladesh go, with the home side threatening to defend a small total but Pakistan somehow dug deep to get home and establish a 1-0 advantage in the series.
Their bowlers were excellent for the most part but lost way in the final five overs, or the target would have been even smaller than 128.
The tourists were not at their full strength in the opening T20I, and the hard-fought win in that game has given them more room to experiment in the second match.
It means we can expect names such as fan-favourites Shanawaz Dahani and Sarfaraz tomorrow.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh had a horror start to the series and their innings and at one point in the 1st T20I, they were languishing at 61-5. The experience of Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakibal Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, and Soumya Sarkar was definitely missed. It needed an impressive late push for them to even get to 127-7.
In the second innings, the Tigers’ plan was clear: keep it simple and let the wicket do its job.
The poor state of the wicket was heavily criticized by the Pakistani media, but to be honest their batters should have blamed themselves rather than the wicket as most of their dismissals were self-manufactured, except for maybe Mohammad Rizwan’s.
In just one game, the Tigers have known that they are overmatched against Pakistan. Their team is young and new and is missing a series of regulars. The best they can do is stick to their strengths.
