Teams Status
Delhi Capitals:
Delhi Capitals will enter the contest against the Royal Challengers Bangalore as a slight underdog after having a mixed start to their campaign.
After playing four matches, they have four points with two wins and two defeats. The management would be aware that such a start is not good enough to secure a place in the next round and they would be pushing the players to produce a better show in the matches to come.
In their previous outing, Delhi secured a thumping 44-run win against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Delhi’s performance in the ongoing campaign is depending on their bowling unit where left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav is leading the charts with 10 wickets to his name. He is well-supported by left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed who has claimed seven wickets.
In the batting department, young opener Prithvi Shaw is leading the charts with 160 runs to his name at an average of 40 along with an outstanding strike-rate of 170.21, which included two fifties.
Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Royal Challengers Bangalore will enter the contest against the Delhi Capitals as slight favourites, despite suffering a 23-run defeat against the Chennai Super Kings in their previous outing.
The reason is their decent-looking start to the campaign where they have secured three wins in the first five matches.
The management would be hoping that the players will continue producing similar kinds of performances as they’ve in the early phase of the tournament.
Just like the Delhi Capitals, RCB are also relying heavily on their bowling attack to do the wonders on the field.
Sri Lanka’s star leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva is leading the charts with 10 wickets at an outstanding average of 15.50. He is well-supported by pacer Harshal Patel who has six wickets to his name with a brilliant economy-rate of just 5.50.
In the batting department, captain Faf du Plessis is leading the charts with 146 runs in five innings at an average of 29.20. Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik is in sublime form as well after being dismissed just once despite scoring 131 runs at a whopping strike-rate of 218.33
