Teams Status
Delhi Capitals
Delhi have four wins and as many defeats in their eight fixtures. They have had their moments but also struggled for consistency all season, often alternating between victories and defeats.
Their inconsistency is reflected in the fact that they have yet to string together successive victories this season.
They did beat Kolkata Knight Riders in their last game though, although it wasn’t the most convincing of the wins. It also needed a clutch 33 off 16 by Rovman Powell in an easy run chase made difficult.
Lucknow Super Giants
While Delhi search for consistency, Lucknow on the other hand have had no such problems in their debut campaign. In fact, even right now they are on a two-match winning streak, having beaten Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in their last two games.
They did a brilliant job of successfully defending just 153 against Punjab Kings, thanks to some stifling bowling by Krunal Pandya, who picked up a pair of wickets in his four overs but more importantly he gave away just 11 runs.
That said, most of their batters – apart from Quinton de Kock (46) and Deepak Hooda (34) – had failed and if it wasn’t for those two, the team would not have had a 100 runs on the board. It’s something for Lucknow to keep an eye on for the future.
