On current form, Kolkata Knight Riders are the second-worst performing side in the league as they have lost each of their last four games. Next up for them is a clash with Delhi Capitals on April 28 (Thursday) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The match is to begin at 7:30pm IST.

Teams Status

Kolkata Knight Riders

When Kolkata last faced Delhi earlier this month, they were flying high with three wins in their previous four games. They lost that encounter to Delhi and have since lost another three.

Don’t get us wrong. Kolkata still have a very impressive looking roster but their big name stars are not pulling their weight.

Their openers are unsettled with almost every match seeing a different pairing. Aaron Finch found runs in the game against Rajasthan Royals but then an untimely injury forced him out of the line-up.

They have problems elsewhere too, with Venkatesh Iyer also struggling to find form and star pacer Pat Cummins leaking runs at the rate of 12 an over. Andre Russell and Tim Southee’s performances have been two positives but even that has not translated into victories of late.

Delhi Capitals

Not too long ago, things were looking up for Delhi Capitals, with David Warner amassing runs up the order and Kuldeep Yadav also finding wickets consistently.

That coupled with their demolition of Punjab Kings last Wednesday had them set for a march up the points table until their momentum got dampened by the manner of their defeat to Rajasthan Royals.

That kind of a last-over defeat can deflate teams but the good thing is that Delhi have had more than a few days to recover and look ahead.

A good news is that Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert have recovered from their respective bouts with Covid-19, although whether they’re in contention for a return or not that seems to be seen.

Tipster’s Angle

Tip: Delhi Capitals to win @ 1.94

Delhi have one win in their last three games but they’ve not been well-beaten in either of their two losses. Rovman Powell’s poor form had been a problem for them but in the last game he delivered as well. In fact, in their last game Powell wasn’t the misfiring gun that finally fired. Lalit Yadav was also among the runs so there are things to look forward to for Delhi. Another two points and they can be back in playoff contention from their current lowly seventh spot on the points table. The odds for this play have been sourced from Paripesa.

Tip: Rovman Powell to score more than 16.5 runs @ 1.87

This had not been a memorable tournament for Rovman until he dazzled Wankhede with a flurry of consecutive sixes in the last game. He plays so late and with such style that only a certain degree of consistency can be expected from him but we think now that he has found runs, he will find them more. If not too many of them, at least 17 or more as we want him to. The odds have been sourced from Parimatch.

Conclusion

In these two teams’ earlier fixture at the start of this tournament, Delhi had amassed 215 and triumphed by 44 runs. We see a repeat of the result, if not the manner of the win.
