Teams Status
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
The top two teams are set to face each other in this fixture. Both the Patriots and the Knight Riders have the equal number of points (10) but the former’s inferior net run rate sees them occupy the second spot.
A victory tonight for either side would all but book their place in the semi-finals.
For the Patriots though, that’s easier said than done right now, for they cannot buy a victory of late. The former highflyers who started the campaign with five straight wins have now lost three on the bounce and look a shell of their former self.
The previously dependable batting unit is now crumbling, with the primary culprit being the legendary Chris Gayle, whose bat is showing signs of decay.
Trinbago Knight Riders
Unlike the Patriots, the Knight Riders had started their 2021 campaign with a defeat and had lost two of their opening three matches but have improved as the tournament has progressed.
Another dissimilarity between the two is that while the Patriots have lost their last three, the Knight Riders have won their last three, which is why they have stormed to the top of the CPL.
Their bowling has been superb during this sequence of wins. In fact, the man of the match in each of their last two matches have been bowlers: Khary Pierre against Barbados and Ali Khan against Jamaica.
The rest of the league needs to be wary of Trinbago as they are back in a familiar position and could be tough to stop, now they had the winning momentum – just like last year.
