Jamaica Tallawahs
Wins on back-to-back nights have got Jamaica Tallawahs’ CPL 2021 campaign back on track. In just two nights, the Tallawahs have doubled their previous haul of four points. With eight to their name now, they are up to third place and another win in this upcoming fixture could see them rise further up on the points table.
Their twin wins have been made possible by the performances of their batting unit, which has come alive just at the right time.
In last night’s 55-run win over St Lucia Kings, opener Kennar Lewis was the hero as his 24-ball 56 set the tone for the rest of the innings. The 212-run target proved too steep for the Kings to track down.
The top order is clicking and making the bowlers’ life easier by posting sizable targets. That’s the simple recipe for their rise up the table.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
Guyana’s problem from the very start of this campaign has been consistency. They have still not been able to string together a sequence of wins in CPL 2021. Their victories have been scattered all over.
This is why despite some impressive results they find themselves fifth on the table, although they have just as many points as Jamaica. It’s their inferior net run rate that has pushed them towards the foot of the table.
In their last game, which was against St Lucia Kings, they weren’t too impressive but still got the win, thanks to their opener Brandon King’s 77 up top. In the second innings, while defending 151, their bowlers kept the Kings at a leash and somehow found a 17-run victory.
