Teams Status
Chennai Super Kings Form and Team News:
Teams bowling unit must be an obvious cause of concern for the management going into Sunday’s fixture as in the first two matches, bowlers managed to claim just eight wickets out of the possible 20.
The coaching staff will be hoping to see the return of pacer Adam Milne, who bowled just 2.3 overs in the first match and missed the subsequent fixture due to an injury, which will definitely bolster the bowling attack.
Other than that, the batting department looks alright with the likes of Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, former captain MS Dhoni and current leader Ravindra Jadeja all amongst the runs.
Punjab Kings Form and Team News:
In the opening fixture, the team led by Mayank Agarwal registered an impressive win against Royal Challengers Bangalore that too while chasing a mammoth target of 206. However, in the second fixture, they suffered a six-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders.
Just like Chennai, Punjab’s major problem in the first two matches has been their bowling department as the bowlers only managed to claim six wickets out of the possible 20.
Those numbers are just not going to be enough for any team to cement their place in the next round of the competition and therefore, the management would be hoping for better performance in the matches to come.
The Kings’ batting unit looked alright in the first couple of matches where the likes of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Shikhar Dhawan, Liam Livingstone and captain Agarwal have been amongst the runs.
The team is likely to receive a major boost as England’s star wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow will be available for selection after completing his three-day mandatory quarantine.
It will be interesting to see how the management would try to bring in Bairstow as Rajapaksa, who has kept the wickets in the first two matches, is currently the side’s leading run-getter in the competition.
