Melbourne Renegades vs Perth Scorchers Betting Tips 22/12/2021

The 17th fixture of the Big Bash League 2021-22 seasons sees Melbourne Renegades take on Perth Scorchers at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne on December 22 (Wednesday).

Teams Status

Melbourne Renegades

Melbourne Renegades once again dwell at the bottom of the BBL points table, thanks (or no thanks) to their single victory in three outings. Mind you, this is the side that has finished last the last two campaigns.

The Renegades had actually started the campaign with a victory, albeit a slim one over Adelaide Strikers. They then lost to the same opposition in the very next game before being beaten again in their next game – this time by Brisbane Heat.

Their frail batting has, however, received a big and timely boost, with uber-experienced Aaron Finch declared fit after missing the first three games due to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Fast bowler James Pattinson is nearing full fitness, although it remains to be seen if he’d be fit for this game. Shaun Marsh is definitely out for this game and the next, at least.

Perth Scorchers

Making this a top versus bottom clash are Perth Scorchers, who have been flawless so far this year, winning each of their first four matches.

Last year’s finalists have scorched Brisbane Heat, Adelaide Strikers, and Hobart Hurricanes (twice). Apart from their first win, the other three have not even been close, which should be a cause of concern for the rest of the league.

The foundation of their quartet of wins has been laid by veteran pacer Andrew Tye – who currently tops the bowling chart with 10 wickets to his name – and newfound gem Kurtis Patterson, who has yet to contribute a single-digit score in four outings and was superb in his 78-run knock in the last game against Hobart.

Tipster’s Angle

Tip: Melbourne to win @ 2.76

We’ve not changed our minds about Perth. They still remain a top side and certainly are stronger than Melbourne. But the return of Aaron Finch, we think, can be a game-changer for Melbourne. We’re banking on the veteran batter to provide a push-up top right away, which is why we’ll stake a little something-something on the Renegades. The odds have been sourced from Parimatch.

Tip: Aaron Finch Will Score (50) Runs – Yes @ 4.0

We’re doubling down on the Finch bet, quite literally. He is the second-highest run-scorer in this tournament’s history and his return would bolster any T20 side in the world. We expect him to make an early impression. The odds have been sourced from 22Bet.

Conclusion

We must be in the minority here backing Melbourne here but they do have two wins in their last three matches against Perth so it’s not like they don’t know how to win in this fixture. Hence, a small play is what we recommend here.
