Hobart Hurricanes
Hobart Hurricanes are on a two-match losing streak and have won just one of their four matches so far this season.
Their last two losses have both been against high-flying Perth Scorchers. What’s even worse is neither of those matches was even close and both very actually pretty similar.
Hobart conceded sizable totals before a disjointed batting effort in reply saw them get nowhere near their targets.
The only game they won was when their captain Matthew Wade went berserk and scored a 90-odd against Sydney Sixers. Other than that, it has been an abysmal campaign for the Hurricanes so far.
Melbourne Stars
After a horrendous start to the season with a 152-run defeat to Sydney Sixers, Melbourne Stars bounced back nicely with back-to-back wins over Sydney Thunder.
However, they were pitted against the Sixers again in their fourth game and again they got beat up, although not in a one-sided affair even if the seven-wicket defeat margin may make it seem that way.
The lesson learned from their four matches is that they are too strong for the weaker Sydney side but too weak for the stronger Sydney side.
They must still be reeling from that last defeat though as they amassed 177, thanks to their captain Glenn Maxwell’s 103-run blitzkrieg, only to see Sixers’ red hot opener Josh Philippe pours cold water on their plans.
